25 Days of Christmas: Ranked
It’s that time of year again, Freeform will be playing their annual 25 days of Christmas movies.
I used to live for this as a kid, and now it only gets better.
Back in the day, when it was still ABC Family, they only showed one Christmas movie a night after their regularly scheduled programming.
As a kid there are few things better than that run up to the big day. There are trees and lights, and decorations galore.
Of course as a kid, the best thing about Christmas, besides the day itself, usually meant two weeks off of school. It was a like a pint sized parole program for me. Any time out of school was gladly welcomed.
And the 25 Days of Christmas was a big part of this. Each night was a new movie, and another down towards the holiday extravaganza.
Now there is even more programming. Freeform basically becomes all Christmas all the time right about now. So I’m going to go through each day and pick out the best movie or two.
Oh, one caveat.
I’m starting this on the 2nd so the first two days are gone by the time you read this.
Dec. 1
Already done.
Dec. 2
Done.
Dec. 3
I think your best bet here is and its sequel. I always liked the sequel a little better not sure why. But both are solid classics.
Jingle All the Way was a fun time but there’s no way I’m watching the sequel with Larry the Cable Guy starring.
And Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings: Holiday Magic 2 sounds like something you use to torture people.
Dec. 4
This day is packed.
Christmas With The Kranks s is pretty average.
If pressed I would go with The Santa Claus.
Dec. 5
Now here’s an easy pick. They’re playing Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town and that movie is great. Its a Santa origin story years before Hollywood got obsessed with origin stories. It’s my personal favorite of the original stop motion animated classics.
Dec. 6
Here, depending on your mood I’d go with The Nightmare Before Christmas or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Dec.7
Love Actually makes its first appearance. It’s a pretty good movie. I think this is a good time to throw it on. It’s not one of my personal Christmas staples, but lots of people love it.
Dec. 8
Almost Christmas is making it’s Freeform debut. It’s a pretty good movie. I’d watch it here.
It beats Christmas with the Kranks and everything is better than The Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause.
Dec. 9
I’m not really sure what Prancer’s Return is so I’d go with The Star. It’s an animated movie about the animals at the Nativity scene. Even if you’re not religious its an animated movie with talking animals. It’s hard to go wrong.
Dec. 10
I’d go with The Simpsons Christmas episodes. It’s Thursday. You’re getting a little tired from the week. So this a good time to liven things up.
Dec. 11
Ah, the new week is starting so the same five movies will stop coming up and we’re starting to get to the good stuff.
This is easy go with Snow. It stars Tom Cavanagh and Ashley Williams, and if there’s anything the Hallmark movies have taught me it’s that you should watch anything with Ashley Williams in it.
Dec. 12
Well it’s Saturday and recent circumstances have dictated that there isn’t much to do. But, Freeform has , 1, 2, and 3 playing. You can’t go wrong here. Fair warning, will make you cry like a little baby so maybe watch that one in private.
Dec. 13
Time for some more Pixar. I’d go with Toy Story That Time Forgot its fun and short and a good time.
Dec. 14
I’d go with the The Perfect Holiday. But if I’m honest I’m watching the How The Grinch Stole Christmas for the fifth time.
Dec. 15
Another easy one.
You have to watch Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice. It’s fun and I have a soft spot for Christmas theme tech gadgets.
Dec. 16
I’d go with Miracle on 34th Street even if you don’t like it it’s one of those films you need to see at least once.
Dec. 17
I gotta go with the Little Drummer Boy.
It’s very well done and easily the most serious of the stop motion classics.
Fun fact- I was like 9 or 10 and I wondered why this movie was in with the Christmas movies. I wasn’t raised very religious. so then was finally told about Jesus and Christmas. Until then I thought it was entirely a Santa gig.
Dec. 18
Hear me out.
Holiday in Handcuffs isn’t the worst movie in the word. My sister forced me to watch it the year it debuted on ABC Family. There are far worse things to watch on Christmas.
Dec. 19
Kung Fu Panda Holiday all the way. Easy choice.
And it’s a Saturday so you can also fit in Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph. Oh and the new animated Grinch movie is on too. It’s pretty good. It departs a little from the original but it’s not the nightmare inducing live action one.
Dec. 20
Here we go.
Getting pretty close to game time.
All the movies today have been played before so dealer’s choice. Though Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town is pretty fitting.
Dec. 21
Another day of repeats.
Maybe a good time to change it up with The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Dec. 22
I’d go with Santa’s Apprentice it’s the only movie that hasn’t been shown 30 times by now.
Dec. 23
I’d go with the Mistle Tones but to be honest this is probably a pretty busy day so I doubt a lot of people are watching TV this day.
Dec. 24
Oh man.
The day before the big show.
Also for some reason tons of people basically do their Christmas on Christmas Eve don’t trust those people.
The live action “ How the Grinch Stole Christmas “ is on. Don’t watch this one unless you hate your children.
Go with one of the animated classics.
Dec. 25
And we made it.
Gotta go Rudolph here.
And we’re done. 25 days are done.
