On a late Tuesday night in Chicago’s United Center a room got witness magic.

Michelle Obama brought the house down.

Even her own husband knew it was folly to follow her, saying as he walked up to the podium that “he was the only one stupid enough to follow her.”

The DNC will have no shortage of fine speakers.

Kamala Harris is a smart, evocative speaker and exudes calm leadership.

Tim Walz brings the enthusiasm of a football coach as well the extemporaneous talks only a teacher could do.

Dr. Raphael Warnock gave an eloquent, fiery sermon on protecting our children’s future.

Joe Biden brought his old fire while at the same time being America’s grandfather telling everything is going to be okay.

Barack Obama might be the finest orator in American history. A speech launched his career and he continues to be nearly Shakespearean in his delivery.

However.

That room would have followed Michelle Obama into battle last night.
