A boy wandered through town, wondering what to do with his life.

He asked a lawyer, “What do you make?”

And he was told a rather large number.

He asked a doctor, “What do make?”

And he was told a slightly larger number.

He went from person to person. Asking and asking. Hearing different salaries. Numbers upon numbers.

Finally, he asked the writer, “What do you make?”

And, the writer said, “stories.”
